Catit Flower water fountain review: good choice for cats that drink too little
Tested by Mabel van den Busken - Founder & tester
The Catit Flower is the fountain I recommend first to cat owners who struggle to get their cat to drink enough.
Snowy barely drank from her bowl before the test - now she visits the fountain an average of eight times a day. Nootje was immediately interested in the flower-shaped top. The filtration is solid, the noise level low and the value for money excellent for the category. The only downside: the filter must be replaced every three weeks and the fountain requires weekly cleaning to prevent lime scale.
Test scores
Pros
- Silent pump - not audible in the living room
- Triple filter: ion exchanger, activated carbon and foam layer
- Flower shape attracts cats that refuse to drink from a static bowl
- 3-litre capacity - suitable for 1-2 cats
- Very low purchase price for the category (€ 34.99)
Cons
- Filter replaced every three weeks - running costs of about € 3 per month
- Lime scale visible after one week without descaling
- No app or smart features
- Replacement filters only available via Catit partner webshops
Filtration system
Buy filters in a 3-pack or 5-pack - you pay significantly less per filter. Individual filters are considerably more expensive per unit.

Test log - 5 weeks
- Week 1
Installation and first reactions
PromisingFountain filled and placed next to the existing bowl. Snowy investigated immediately - drank after ten minutes. Nootje more cautious - tried the water only after the first evening. Pump completely silent at two metres distance.
- Week 2
Daily use and first filter check
GoodSnowy visits the fountain an average of seven times per day. Nootje five times. The existing bowl now stands almost untouched. Filter still lightly coloured - no replacement needed. First cleaning done in twenty minutes.
- Week 3
Filter change and lime descaling
AcceptableFilter clearly discoloured after three weeks - replaced. Lime scale visible around pump. Citric acid cleaning (20-minute soak): excellent result, no residue. Total maintenance time this week: 35 minutes including filter change.
- Week 4-5
Long-term stability
PositiveNo mechanical issues. Pump running flawlessly. Snowy and Nootje use the fountain consistently. Second filter change after another three weeks. Conclusion: maintenance is the biggest time investment but the effect on drinking behaviour is clear.
